Thanksgiving 2008

We had a very enjoyable Thanksgiving here at home in Louisville. Stephen's parents and brother were able to join us and we enjoyed getting to spend time with them. I actually cooked my very first turkey and although it took a bit longer to cook than I planned for, it turned out well. Thanksgiving day was spent preparing for the meal, watching football, sleeping, playing with Julianne, and eating (of course). On Friday we did some shopping and then took some lunch to Stephen because he was working. We came back home and set up the Christmas tree while Julianne napped. When Julianne was introduced to the tree and other holiday decorations she ran from one thing to the other, checking each new "toy" out. We put the non-breakable ornaments on the bottom third of the tree so she could check them out safely. She has loved pulling these ornaments off and hiding them around the house. She also loves the baby Jesus figurine in all of our three nativity scenes. This evening she lost one of the baby Jesus' in our basement. We are still enjoying the many leftovers of the Thanksgiving meal and by far Julianne's favorite food was the sweet potatoes with marshmallows on top. We had to give them to her last, otherwise she would refuse to eat anything else.

On Saturday we drove up to Indianapolis to visit Stephen's brother and his wife. We had a fun time hanging around their new townhouse and Julianne loved getting to see their cats. Seeing was about all that the cats would let her do. They were not too fond of her getting close and definitely did not let her touch them, but she still enjoyed seeing them. Julianne had a blast getting to see her Grandpa Mike, Grandma Karen, Uncle "Ry-Ry" (Ryan), Uncle "Jay-Jay" (Jason), and Aunt "Lala" (Laura). She just ate up the attention they gave and loved playing with these new playmates. I don't know if I've mentioned this, but Julianne already seems to have a shoe fetish (I'll admit she probably does get this from me). She not only loves to go through her own well supplied shoe drawer, but loves to try on "big people" shoes too. During the weekend she tried on my shoes, Stephen's shoes, Ryan's shoes, and Jason's shoes. She also tries to put shoes on other people's feet. It really is pretty cute. Enjoy the pictures. Hope you and your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
