Trip to St. Louis, Missouri - Summer 2015

We made our first trek back to St. Louis, Missouri since we moved to Utah. It was a long drive (19 hours driving, 26 hours travel with stops) but it was totally worth it to get to see our family and friends in Missouri. We spent the first part of our trip with Papa and Gigi (Stephen’s parents) and enjoyed time with both of Stephen’s brother’s families. The kids loved getting to see their cousins, Ethan and Noelle. They had band practices with the many instruments that Papa and Gigi have, played on the slip and slide, spotted many deer in the backyard, swung, ate popcicles, rode bikes down the hill in front of the house, roasted marshmallows for s’mores, and painted with water outside. One day we even got to go to the Magic House. The kids loved playing in the construction zone, the baby nursery, the outside water area, the inside water table, and the play restaurant. During the time we were in St. Louis, Chick fil A had Cow Appreciation Day, so we dressed up as cows (I packed our annual cow costumes) and we headed to Chick fil a with Mimi (my mom), Great Uncle Steve, Great Aunt Shelley, and Great Grandma Muhleman. We had a great time being cows for the evening and getting free food! We spend a couple of days hanging out with Great Grandma Muhleman, Great Aunt Shelley, and Great Uncle Steve. The girls enjoyed making jewelry with Aunt Shelley and Morgan and Nolan loved getting to play with Cousin Peter’s legoes.

Later in our trip we headed to Trout Lodge, which is a couple hours south of St. Louis in Potosi, Missouri, for a family reunion with my Mom’s side of the family. We enjoyed wonderful food, time to visit with many family members (there were over 30 of us), fishing, horseback riding, riflery, archery, mini-golf, swimming, boating, campfires, crafts, and a little bit of sleep in between activities. It was a lot of fun! When we got back to St. Louis we spent time with Mimi and my brother and his family. The kids loved getting to catch up with their cousins, Lily and Levi, and played every waking moment. They enjoyed watching movies, making crafts, going to the playground, eating Fritz’s frozen custard, going to the zoo, eating at Fitz’s which makes the yummiest root beer around, watching the new movie Inside Out in the theatre, and playing with Abby. Since we left Abby with my mom last summer the kids have missed her a lot. Nolan, who was pretty little last summer and probably didn’t remember her, loved on Abby the most. He just wanted to hug on her, sit on her, and just be near her. We were so blessed to get to spend this time with our family.
