Nolan - 8 Months

A couple of days before Nolan turned eight months old he started pulling up on furniture to his knees and a couple of days later he started pulling up to standing while holding onto something. A couple of days after that he started crawling forward slowly and a couple of days later he picked up speed crawling and moved from room to room getting into anything at his level. He seems to be changing daily. These days he is rarely still, puts everything into his mouth, and is very vocal. Some of the sounds he makes are “da-da”, “ba-ba”, “wa-wa”, and “mmmm”. Nolan is a great eater. He eats just about any kind of baby food given to him and has started eating table foods too. So far he has eaten little pieces of chicken, bread, puffs, sweet potato, green beans, carrots, and pears. He still nurses five times a day (when he wakes up, after morning nap, before afternoon nap, after afternoon nap and at bedtime) but has become very distracted while nursing and does not nurse nearly as long as in the past. He’s usually done in 10 minutes as opposed to 15-20 minutes in the past. He is no longer nursing at night and he did this on his own a few days after he turned 8 months. I’m so thankful to finally be getting a full night of sleep and I’m glad he’s learning healthy sleep habits. He will still wake up and cry for 5-10 minutes every once in awhile but easily puts himself back to sleep by putting his pacifier back in his mouth. He has two new teeth (one top and one bottom) and I can see three more teeth ready to come in soon. So far he has not seemed to be bothered by teething. He still loves to watch his brother and sisters, although he tends to be a little overwhelmed by Morgan’s roughness and prefers to be held and play with Julianne, who often takes him with her and entertains him with whatever she is doing. I am so thankful for the eight months we have had with this happy, energetic boy.
