Easter 2012

We celebrated our first Easter as a family of five on Sunday. In the days before Morgan was born the girls and I had our Easter week of school. We used the Resurrection Eggs to learn about Jesus' life, death, and resurrection. We learned "Christ the Lord is Risen Today" and both of the girls have been singing it ever since. We used jelly beans to estimate, touch count, sort, to work on recognizing color words, and to simply eat and enjoy. We used plastic eggs to match upper/lower case letters (Julianne) and to match/learn colors (Lorelei). The girls loved hunting for the eggs and we did several egg hunts.

On Easter after a yummy breakfast of Resurrection rolls and egg casserole the girls, Stephen, and Mimi went to church, while I stayed at home with Morgan. Julianne went to the service and enjoyed hearing her daddy sing in the praise team and sitting by her friend Shiloh. When they came home, we had a picnic lunch, played outside, then everyone had naps. That afternoon the girls hunted for more eggs and played outside while we prepared dinner. Our good friends, Chip and Claire, who we hadn't seen in two years, joined us for a delicious dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to spend this day celebrating the new life that Jesus brings with our family and friends.
