Morgan's Arrival

We welcomed Morgan James Mobley into our family on Thursday,April 5, 2012. Stephen and I arrived at the hospital at 6:15 a.m. and by 8:15 a.m. I was started on pitocin to get things moving. At 11:15 a.m. my doctor broke my water and an hour later I got my epidural. By 1:15 p.m. I was fully dialted and ready to push but I had to wait about an hour until my doctor was done with another delivery. I pushed three times and in just a few minutes Morgan made his arrival into the world. He weighed 7 lbs 11 oz (my biggest baby by far-almost 2 lbs bigger than Julianne) and was 20.75 in long. He has been a good sleeper so far and for the most part will go right back to sleep after nighttime feedings. He's eating every 2-3 hours and is nursing well. For the first day of his life he hardly cried at all, but has seemed a bit uncomfortable after his circumcision and now pretty much only cries when we're changing his diaper/clothes or when he's hungry.

Julianne and Lorelei have transitioned well into being big sisters to a little brother and Morgan enjoys being held by both of them. While we were in the hospital Julianne could hardly wait to see Morgan and would have stayed with him the whole time if we would have let her. She has loved holding him and giving him lots of kisses. She also has enjoyed picking out his clothes and always has another outfit picked out just in case he poops or spits up on his current outfit. Lorelei on the other hand, had a hard time warming up to Morgan while he was in the hospital, mainly because she seemed a bit overwhelmed by the hospital setting, family coming in town, and mommy and daddy not being home. Since we brought Morgan home this afternoon, she seems back to herself and loves holding him, playing with his hair, and patting his tummy. So far, Morgan has met, not only his sisters, but all of his grandparents. Mimi stayed with Julianne and Lorelei while we were in the hospital and brought the girls there several times. Papa and Gigi drove to Louisville for the day on Friday to meet Morgan. We are so blessed to have Morgan in our family and are excited to see how a boy changes our family dynamics.
