Trip to Indy

At the end of this week the girls and I had the opportunity to go up to Indianapolis to visit my uncle, aunt, and two cousins. We drove up early on Thursday morning and spent most of the afternoon at the Indianapolis Zoo. Julianne loved the shark exhibit. There was a huge, somewhat shallow pool of dog sharks, which are pretty small. If the sharks got close enough to the side of the pool and close enough to the surface you could touch their backs. Most of us got to touch them, but Julianne just couldn't reach them. Later that afternoon I asked Julianne what her favorite things was at the zoo and I was surprised to hear that it was the sharks since she never got to touch one. She didn't care about that, though. Her favorite thing about the sharks was the little baby shark that kept rolling around and poking his head out of the water. She, along with the rest of us, were very entertained by this funny little shark. Another cool exhibit that we got to see was the dolphin exhibit. We got to see a dolphin show first, where the dolphins did all sorts of tricks, then went to a little room that had clear walls under the pool where we could see the dolphins swimming all around us. It was a very fun day at the zoo!

That night we roasted hot dogs, brats, and marshmallows for s'mores over my aunt and uncle's fire pit. Friday morning we stayed around the house while the girls played with Mady (my cousin) and that afternoon while Lorelei took a nap the older girls watched "Tangled", which Julianne actually sat through most of and thought was pretty hilarious. After Lorelei woke up from her nap we went to my brother-in-law and sister-in-law's house to visit with them and my adorable nephew, Ethan. Julianne loved getting to help with Ethan and Lorelei loved getting to explore some new stairs. Seriously, she spent most of the time we were there going up and down two sets of stairs. It was a very fun trip, but we were also glad to get home late Friday night.
