Julianne - 23 months

Julianne is less than a month away from turning two years old. This past month she has actually stopped using the "N" word (NO) so much and is now sometimes saying "yes". I know this doesn't sound like a big deal, but it has been really frustrating trying to figure out what a little girl wants and needs when she only answers questions with a "No". She now, very exaggeratedly, nods her head yes and no at appropriate times. When I ask her a question she thinks about it very seriously and slowly nods her head one way or the other. It is pretty funny to watch.

Cows and IKEA

As many of you know, last Friday, July 10, was Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-fil-A. We are quite the fans of Chick-fil-A. So much that Julianne now calls every fast food restaurant or really any restaurant for that matter "Bee Yay" (Chick-fil-A). Anyway, last Friday if you dressed up like a cow you got a free meal. Being the wonderful mother that I am, I dressed Julianne up like a cow, so I didn't have to, in order to get us a free meal. I figure that this is one of the many perks of motherhood. I stuck some paper spots onto a dress and a hat and called it a cow costume.

Independence Day

For the July 4th weekend we went to St. Louis and spent some time with family. On Friday we spent the morning and afternoon at my Grandma Muhleman's house. Julianne loved jumping on "Mull-mull"'s (Great Grandma Muhleman) bed, wearing "Mull-mull"'s shoes, and helping Daddy and "Uh-tuh Tee"(Uncle Steve)repair "Mull-mull"'s closet. We were able to visit with Julianne's Great-Grandma Northrip, who she now calls "Cha-cha" (short for Charlotte), "Bow-ee" (Aunt Valerie), and Mimi for the rest of the day.

Trip to Indianapolis

At the beginning of last week Julianne and I took a trip to Indiana to see my Uncle, Aunt, and cousins that live in Indy. My mom and grandma were also visiting so we got to visit with lots of family. On Monday we had fun swimming and then roasted hot dogs, brats, and marshmallows over the fire pit. On Tuesday Julianne and I went to the library with my aunt, Melissa, and cousin, Mady. After that we had a yummy lunch at "Bee-yay"(Chick Fil A) and then headed to the Children's Museum. It was the neatest museum I probably have ever been to.

Kentucky Railway Museum

At the end of June we, along with some friends of ours, took a trip to the Kentucky Railway Museum, which is located in New Haven, Kentucky (about an hour south of Louisville). My friend, Charity, and I plotted together to surprise our husbands with this trip, since they both love trains. We all had a wonderful time at the museum, which also had several train tables for Julianne to play at. We also had the opportunity to ride a historic train throughout the Kentucky countryside. Julianne kept saying "Lou too-too tain" (loud choo-choo train) whenever the train would blow it's whistle.

Julianne - 22 months

Julianne has been 22 months for almost a week and I am just now sitting down to record her latest sayings and doings. Her biggest news this month is that she is going to be a big sister at the end of December. She has no idea what this means yet, but we're excited about it anyway.

Tubes

Today Julianne received tubes in her ears after about seven consecutive months of having fluid on her ears. The poor child had little chance to have a healthy set of ears because of the genes that were passed on from her parents. We got up at a very early 6 a.m. and were at the medical center by 6:40 a.m. Her procedure was not actually scheduled until 7:45 a.m., but she was the first one and they got her in at 7:15 a.m. and she was back in our arms at 7:45 a.m. She was in a great mood before the procedure, even though she was unable to have anything to drink or eat.

Another Trip to St. Louis

Julianne and I had the opportunity to go to St. Louis again this past week. We stayed for about five days and had lots of fun with family and friends. On Monday we went to Bangert Pool and swam a bit and on Tuesday we got to go to the St. Louis Zoo, which was so much fun. We saw a Sea Lion show and saw lots of other animals. Julianne kept talking about the "ellas" (elephants) and on the way to see them she fell asleep. We took pictures though so she could see them when she woke up.

"Wa-wa" Fun

Julianne absolutely loves to play in the "wa-wa" and would do so all day if I let her. She loves to stand in it, play in it with her hands, splash a bit, and pour it out of the pool, but she does not like getting it on her head. At the Splash Park at the zoo she put her hands over her head and face the whole time to attempt to not get splashed. When that didn't work she just refused to go back in the water and stayed safely on the sidelines. She much prefers to be in charge of the splashing herself!

Trip to St. Louis

Over Memorial weekend we had the opportunity to visit family in St. Louis. Other than automobile issues and Stephen getting sick we had a great time. We mainly just hung around and visited with family and friends. Julianne and I got to go to the Original Pancake House on Saturday where Julianne thoroughly enjoyed her pancakes (she loves anything with the word "cake" in it) and coffee. Yes, that's right, she had a grand old time putting her fork, spoon, and butter knife into her Great Uncle Steve's cool coffee.
