Nolan Ray

On Friday, January 24 Stephen and I arrived at Baptist East Hospital at 6:30 a.m. to have our fourth child. I was started on pitocin at 8:30 a.m. and as my contractions began getting more regular my doctor broke my water at 10:30 a.m. She, the nurse, and I were convinced that we would have a baby by lunch time since I have generally had a baby within a couple of hours after having my water broken in my past three deliveries. By 11:30 a.m. my contractions were definitely getting stronger but I hadn't progressed much and was still at about 6 cm dialated.

Morgan's Second Haircut

Morgan just got his second haircut, about two and a half months after his first haircut. His hair had grown quite a bit especially in the back and daddy was chomping at the bit to cut his hair a little shorter. After doing some research we decided to cut his hair at home. I started trimming it but Stephen finished up and it actually turned out a lot better than we anticipated. Morgan did really well during the hair cut looking at books, watching a movie on the Leap Pad, eating some treats, and being entertained by our friend, Daniel.

Lorelei's Fourth Birthday Party

Almost two weeks after her birthday we finally had Lorelei's birthday party at the McDonald's play area near our townhouse. About twenty of her friends joined us for play time, lunch, cake, and presents and Lorelei had a great time. She requested a Tinkerbell cake and chicken nuggets for lunch. She enjoyed all of the gifts she received and loved getting to spend time with all of her friends. We had a great time celebrating our four year old girl!

Morgan - 21 Months

Morgan is now 21 months old and is talking more than ever. He repeats just about anything we say, is speaking words more clearly, and is starting to put a couple of words together. He still answers "no" quite a bit but sweetly answers "yes" to things that he agrees with. He loves saying people's names. When we're sitting in the living room he'll run from person to person saying their names ("doo-doo"(Ju-ju), "ya-ya"(Lorelei), "daddy", "mommy", "Abby"). He has loved looking at the pictures on Christmas cards and naming everyone he knows.

Lorelei's Fourth Birthday

While we were in St. Louis we had a family birthday party for our sweet girl along with a celebration for my cousin, Peter's, birthday. Lorelei had a wonderful time opening presents, eating cake, dressing up in Aunt Shelley's clothes, and singing a variety of songs to us and with us. The next morning, on her actual birthday, we had doughnuts, pink milk, and strawberries (Lorelei's request) and let her open a few more presents from us. We then packed up and headed to the City Museum.

Four Years Old

Lorelei is four years old.

Christmas in Missouri

The night before Christmas Eve we packed up and drove to St. Louis. We stayed the first couple of days with Mimi, Uncle Andy, Aunt Sarah, and Lily. On Christmas eve we baked cookies, opened presents, visited, went to a Christmas Eve service, and visited with family. On Christmas we went caroling at a local nursing home. Julianne and Lorelei naturally interacted with residents by talking to them and hugging them. Morgan was a little more hesitant but finally by the end warmed up to saying "hi" and handing out fruit snacks to the residents.

Christmas in Kentucky

Before we left to travel to St. Louis we celebrated Christmas as a family here in Louisville. We had our traditional Christmas breakfast of monkey bread with fruit salad and then went through "What God Wants for Christmas" which tells the story of Christmas through seven boxes that have a figurines with characters from the Christmas story. We went through our stockings and opened presents from one another. I took the girls to the dollar store the week before and let them buy presents for the members of our family and for a friend.

December Fun

This December seemed to fly by with all of the fun things we got to do. We had our first snow of the season and all three kiddos enjoyed playing in the snow, having snowball fights, and sledding down the tiny hills in front of our townhouse. Morgan just loved walking in the snow and looked down while walking around the yard. We enjoyed a special visit from our friends, Andrew, Julie, Ethan, and Evie and got to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus while we were eating at Mark's Feed Store with them.

Morgan - 20 Months

Morgan is becoming more and more talkative as a 20 month old. He is finally answering some questions appropriate with "yes" and "no" rather than always saying "no". He often responds with a "yeah" as a positive answer. He can tell you most animal sounds although he talks about dogs and monkeys the most. At meals and bedtime he reaches for my hand to hold and says "pay"(pray) and closes his eyes until I pray. He has also started repeating after us saying "Thank you God for our food.
