Lorelei - 5 Months
Lorelei is five months old today and continues to be a blessing to our family. We finally made the switch to having both girls in the same room at night about two weeks ago and they have done wonderfully. Julianne has learned to control her talking and playing in bed and Lorelei sleeps through just about anything. Lorelei continues to sleep about 10 hours at night, usually wakes up at about 5 a.m. to eat, then goes right back to sleep for another couple of hours. She is a great napper and takes two - 2 hour naps.
SBTS Graduation
On Friday, May 14 Stephen graduated from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Five years ago we moved to Louisville in order for Stephen to begin his Master of Divinity at Southern. God has been so faithful to us during this time. He has provided us jobs, a church home, and two sweet children along the way. We both started out teaching, Stephen in a computer lab at an elementary school in Oldham County and me in a preschool classroom at an elementary school in Jefferson County.
Mother's Day
I realize that is is more than a week past Mother's Day, but I've been meaning to make this entry since then and it has just been one of those busy weeks. On Mother's Day we went to church in the morning then went to the Old Spaghetti Factory for lunch. Yum!
AWANA Award's Ceremony
Julianne has loved being in Honeybees for Jesus in our church's AWANA program this year. She has memorized seven Bible verses through the course of the year and has learned several Bible stories as well. Every week she looked forward to seeing her teachers, Ms. Korey, Ms. Laurin, and Ms. Lynn and all of her friends. I am so thankful for a church that provides a program like this to help young children hide God's Word in their hearts.
Lorelei - 4 months
Lorelei is now four months old and went to the doctor today for her four month check up. Everything looked great. Here are her stats: Length - 25 in. (50th percentile), Weight - 14lbs 1oz. (50th percentile), Head circumference - 16 in. (25th percentile). She is quite a healthy looking little girl with her chubby cheeks, round belly, and rolls on her legs. She is also a very happy little girl. She rarely cries unless she is tired or really doesn't feel good. She loves to smile and laugh and continues to be very ticklish.
Sisterly Love
Julianne and Lorelei absolutely adore one another. Lorelei is all smiles when Julianne is paying attention to her and Julianne wakes up asking, "Is Lorelei awake?". I'm sure they will have there moments of strife, especially when Lorelei can move around and take her sister's things, but it is so sweet seeing their love grow. My prayer is that they will grow up to be lifelong friends. Here are a couple of sweet sister pictures.
The Balloon Glow
Last night we went to the Kentucky Derby Festival Balloon Glow. A wonderful and very generous friend of ours agreed to stay at home with the sleeping Lorelei so we could just take Julianne to this event. We didn't tell her where we were going, just that we had a surprise for her. She loved the surprise and we all had a great time watching the balloons inflate and light up. When all the balloons were up and we were able to go see them up close, we asked Julianne which one she wanted to go see. She said that she wanted to see the basketball.
April Showers
So, Julianne has been dying to put her new umbrella to use since I got it for her at a children's consignment sale about a month and a half ago. It has been a relatively dry spring so far, so there haven't been any great opportunities to use it. Yesterday it was a little rainy in the morning, so I let her put on her rain coat and rain boots and take out her umbrella for just a little while. She had a blast, although didn't really get the concept that the umbrella should be used to shield oneself from the rain. She just kind of carried it around with her.
Henry's Ark
Yesterday we went to a private zoo in Prospect, Kentucky called Henry's Ark. They have some farm and exotic animals and the best part about it is it's free. When we were eating our lunch in the car before entering the zoo, we turned around to find an emu staring at us (actually, it was probably staring at our food) through the open car window. It was a little startling, but the emu just looked at us and after it realized we weren't going to be sharing our lunch, it walked away across the parking lot.

Parent/Child Dedication
This past Sunday our church, Highview Baptist Church - East Campus, had parent/child dedication. Although we already had made the decision to raise Lorelei in a way that would teach her about the Lord, we publicly made this dedication last Sunday. Lorelei was very well behaved during the service and sucked on her pacifier the entire time. Uncle Jason and Aunt Laura made the trip from Indianapolis to be there for it and we got to visit with them that afternoon. Lorelei enjoyed meeting her aunt and uncle for the first time and Julianne loved getting to spend time with them.
